Socialization of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions for protection and security activities within the park area

Ujung Kulon National Park Authority recently held a Socialization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (IK) for protection and security activities within the park area. The event took place on April 29–30, 2025, at the Section II PTN Office Hall, and was attended by protection personnel from across Ujung Kulon National Park, along with key partners of the park authority.

This socialization was a result of collaboration between the Ujung Kulon National Park Authority and Aliansi Lestari Rimba Terpadu (ALeRT), as part of a joint commitment to strengthening the capacity of field personnel. By aligning understanding of SOPs and work instructions, teams are expected to operate in a more coordinated, responsive, and adaptive manner in facing real challenges in the field, including technology-based crimes and habitat degradation.

The integration of technology into the development of SOPs and IK is a strategic step to enhance the effectiveness of area management, particularly in protecting the Javan Rhino—one of the park’s key species. It is hoped that this initiative not only strengthens protection systems but also reinforces synergy among stakeholders in safeguarding this irreplaceable natural heritage.
