SD5 Trigona Cerana – Sekolah Alam Indonesia Visits ALeRT Office for Outing Class: The Way Kambas Conservation Project
Earlier this week, ALeRT welcomed a special visit from the fifth-grade students of Trigona Cerana – Sekolah Alam Indonesia Studio Alam. The visit was part of their outing program entitled The Way Kambas Conservation Project. During this activity, students were invited to learn more about the world of conservation, particularly the protection of rhinos and the forest duck (mentok rimba), as well as various efforts carried out by ALeRT in collaboration with conservation partners.
Guided directly by ALeRT’s Director, drh. Kurnia Oktavia Khairani, the students learned about ALeRT’s role in supporting conservation management units across three key working areas: Way Kambas National Park (BTNWK), Ujung Kulon National Park (BTNUK), and the East Kalimantan BKSDA. They were also introduced to the various species of rhinos found in the world and in Indonesia, along with the challenges faced in their conservation.
In addition, participants gained insights into the conservation of the forest duck in Way Kambas National Park, and were introduced to strategic programs such as forest restoration, Javan rhino DNA analysis, and information about the Kelian Rhino Sanctuary and Pahu the Rhino in East Kalimantan.
This activity provided a valuable opportunity to instill a love for nature from an early age, while also fostering the spirit of the younger generation to help protect Indonesia’s wildlife heritage.
