Ujung Kulon National Park has well-preserved coastal waters rich in natural resources. Their sustainability continues to influence the surrounding seas and serves as a vital source of livelihood for local communities.
The Community-Based Coastal Management (CBCM) initiative began in 2025 as an effort to strengthen community participation in coastal management. As a follow-up, Ujung Kulon National Park Authority together with ALeRT and the community of Ujung Jaya Village conducted a Sustainable Livelihood Analysis (SLA) on 4–9 February 2026 in Ujung Jaya Village.
The SLA, themed “Coastal Community Livelihood Ecosystem,” forms part of a broader effort to build an economic safeguard that strengthens community resilience, ensuring that conservation and welfare can move forward hand in hand.
It is expected that the SLA will serve as a strong foundation for the effective, evidence-based implementation of CBCM, positioning local communities as key actors in coastal management while promoting a balance between conservation and the economic resilience of coastal communities.
